A Child Protection Podcast Exploring Trauma-Informed Practice, Residential Care, and the Future of Out-of-Home Care
The Secure Start Podcast is a weekly child protection and trauma-informed care podcast dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people who have experienced adversity, separation, and out-of-home care. Each episode brings together respected voices from residential care, child welfare, psychology, social work, and youth development to explore the ideas, practice frameworks, and leadership approaches that make a meaningful difference.
Hosted by Colby Pearce, clinical psychologist and author, the podcast takes a practical, reflective, and deeply relational look at the systems that support vulnerable children — and the people who care for them. Whether you work in residential children’s homes, foster care, kinship care, therapeutic programs, social work, youth justice, education, or policy, The Secure Start Podcast offers insights that strengthen practice, build hope, and deepen understanding.
